It’s been a very long time

Category: Uncategorized

And I bet you’re wondering what I’ve been doing in all this time?

The short answer is many things. Since leaving University in back in June I’ve been looking for work whilst producing a freelance documentary, designing my CV, graduating, and I’ve been made a cast member - essentially a support centre mod - for sheezyart. I’m also developing some features for them as well at the moment.

My Documentary ‘I exist’ is to be the first in a series of documentaries about Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism, and a centre in Bradford called ‘Sacar’ which is pioneering aid to those who suffer with the condition(s). The first documentary in the series which I’ve now completed, (And I’m hoping to have aired on Channel 4 some time before or shortly after Christmas) is about what it’s like to have the condition during the transition between childhood and adulthood.

The interviews were very compelling - it was one of the reasons I didn’t add narration - I let each interviewee tell their story uninterrupted to the audience - it brings the audience much closer to the subjects. Too much narration is bad thing, and none at all is to me - a sign of perfection.

The following documentaries will explore the condition further - heading also into what the conditions are medically. The first documentary is a scenario which leaves the audience wanting more information. It’s one of the first instances where the condition has been explored in the UK outside of books - so initiating this by making the audience want to know more further along the lines was practical.

There isn’t an advert yet - I think that’s something I’m going to leave to a broadcaster; but if you want to see the DVD cover design, (along with some other snappy designs of mine) it’s here: http://www.sheezyart.com/view/1949798/

Working on a drawing

Category: Uncategorized

My Chibi anatomy is coming along quite nicely! That said, I developed this one after I traced my hair from a photo in ArtRage2. I’m going to have it shaded and finished for around November when I’ll be longing for a winter feel as November gets very cold yet the falling of snow is still somewhat moot.

Work in progress

I’m not happy with the mouth just yet…..

New Tablet - More Drawings; and some other stuff

Category: Uncategorized

I turned 22 today - my last birthday doesn’t feel quite as though it was something that happened 12 months ago…more like 6 or 7….

I got quite a few bits - a new phone (my old one just died) and a new t-shirt which really brings out my hair…

A few weeks before my Birthday I got a brand new Wacom Bamboo ‘One’ tablet. Not only is it small enough to carry just about anywhere in my bag, but at £39 for a professional must-have, it was deal of the century!

So this means I’ve been doodling more chibis for Sheezy. For those of you who don’t frequent my sheezy profile, I’ll stick stuff on here too - but please bear in mind that right now everything is a work in progress - so some anatomy occasionally doesn’t quite go together - although that’s kinda the point of chibis anyway, which makes them a good starting point.

This first one I’m not too happy with the arms and hands - Titled: ‘Job Seeker’s Depression’

I've got a degree....

Up a tree….

Category: Uncategorized

I’ve been having a play about with plug ins - which just hasn’t worked very well at all….I think for now I’m going to stick with widgets - but from my experiment I’ve now learned a little more about plug ins and how they (don’t) work.

I started by trying to add a NextGEN gallery. It didn’t work. So I tried to add a different gallery - one which was going to be a little easier to load, and I came across this: Gallery Plugin site

So I downloaded the Lazy-K gallery, and stuck the folder into the content folder:

Content Folder

I then put the content folder onto the server, as evidenced in this ftp log:
FTP log

So I then went onto Wordpress expecting it to be there. Guess what?

Not happy.

It wasn’t there. I tried logging out and logging back in again, as it has been mentioned to be before that some plugins require you to log in and log out before they avail themselves, but this didn’t work either - unless of course it takes a day or so before it comes online…

So not rather happy with the gallery - and somewhat disillusioned by installing an entire plugin, I decided to do the next best thing, and try getting a half-baked plugin to work. So I tried to activate my google plugin, by getting the HTML code and access key from here:

google

Now I wasn’t completely sure as to where exactly in the CSS editor on Wordpress I needed to copy the HTML code to, as this was an example, I stuck the entire lot under the php code which already existed under the editor for the google map plugin.

it's here! OMG!

And it worked. It was, however, in completely the wrong place however:

fail.

And it also decided to do exactly the same thing - becoming a header rather than it’s design as a left sidebar - on my admin panel as well:

too much info

Which is why the plugin doesn’t live here anymore, and I deactivated the code. I might fiddle about with the code later on - to me, at first glance I’d say that one of the tags has confused the height, but it isn’t that. It’s more likely that there is some means of setting the justification of a sidebar - if push comes to shove I’ll look into creating a new sidebar and sticking the HTML code into there - I will continue to play around with this later today - but this was a fun exercise just to prove that I can work with plugins, even if the plugins don’t quite work with me…

Glad the degree show prep is almost over

Category: Uncategorized

It’s been very, very stressful, and when everything is finished I’ll be solely concentrating on WordPress, (I know I’ve been promising for a long time now - but this time I actually mean it).

The degree show has been very stressful for me. I spent weeks editing, only to have the export go tits up; which require a lot of precision and attention to details. As I type I’m actually exporting a version which I think is going to work…

If it’s gone wrong, it’s gone wrong. At least I have a mobile phone sorted out after my phone just died. It’s lying in state on my bedside table, awaiting further autopsy.

I wish everybody else who’s entering in the Degree Festival the very best; It’s been so hard, but just keep telling yourself what you’re going to be doing afterwards, and that’ll make every little challenge seem that bit easier.

Why’s my favicon not appearing?

Category: Uncategorized

It’s still not uploaded, so I’m going to upload the site again.

I really hope it works this time around; because my trial for dreamweaver runs out in a few days.

Customised the theme

So last week I found the blank canvas I’d been searching for, with the ‘mukka-mu’ theme. I decided to customize it by first opening dreamweaver, and finding all the imaging files in the theme folder, thusly:

Screen Capture

Using the testbed logo as an example, I then changed the header image, in this case “r.jpeg”:

Original Theme HeaderOriginal Theme Header
I then made one rather basic change as an example here; and I got rid of the pattern, and stuck on a background of my own:

Test Bed Logo

Dialogue box

I then went back to dreamweaver, clicked ‘r.jpeg’ and then put the file onto the server, and after a refresh, it appeared.

So I did the same with the background, and fiddled around with the logo a little more - eventually I got rid of the header and sub header text, so that for the sake of having the logo in prepaution I added the text later on to the header image, and this was the result:

Finished theme

Customizing themes

The next part of my blog which I’m going to change are the borders. I figure that once I do that, I could pretty much edit the rest of the theme using a similar process of changing similar tags in the php editor on Word Press.

Ok, I’ve been a little preoccupied.

Category: QuickBlog

And guess what - I’m NOT going to write an entire blog telling you why. Instead, be patient and wait and see what I’ve been doing, as over the next few weeks I start adding some of my video projects to this blog, and spending much more time playing around with it. I might change the theme as well, but I’m not sure if I want to do that just yet….where’s the ’setup poll’ application on here….
